Hi, I’m Kirsten, a Madison, Wisconsin based mixed media artist working in photography and encaustics.

                                              Thanks for visiting my site!

My passion lies in creating art that portrays the magic and mystery in the ephemeral, ethereal life of plants and flowers.

I love to push the boundaries of photography by using unconventional photography techniques and then reintroducing natural materials into the images by fusing layers of encaustic medium onto the printed images.  Encaustic medium is a mixture of pine resin, bees wax and pigment which adds layers of texture, depth, and translucency.

I often photograph macro and print large, showcasing the small, overlooked beauty in our natural world. My goal is to create art that inspires wonder, joy, and appreciation of our natural world.

My interest in art started at a young age, and for as long as I can remember I found solace in creating art. After raising a family and having a career in the nonprofit world I started pursing art professionally. For the past 6 years I have been a professional photographer and mixed media artist working with alternative photoprint and encaustics. My work has been shown in numerous  group and juried exhibitions throughout southern Wisconsin.
